Financial-account entries, physical-asset valuations, and liability balances are monthly records. The selected date assigns the entry to a calendar month.
One value per item per month
Each account, asset, or liability can have one effective entry in a calendar month. If you save another entry for an item in a month that already has one, Hugo overwrites that month’s existing entry.
This means a value dated March 4 and another dated March 31 do not create two March checkpoints for the same item. The later save replaces the March record.
Balances and valuations
- A financial-account entry can contain balance, deposits for the period, withdrawals for the period, and an optional note.
- A physical-asset valuation contains date, value, and an optional note.
- A liability entry contains date, outstanding balance, and an optional note.
Edit, delete, or archive
Editing corrects an existing record. Deleting an entry or valuation is permanent. Archiving an account, asset, liability, institution, or recurring cash-flow item is different: the item stops contributing to current totals, but its history remains and the item can be restored.
Use the same general review date each month. Consistent checkpoints make changes, returns, and projections easier to interpret.
